stacey has been selling her flipbook since 2015
Stacey is a retired public school teacher whose passion (back when she was teaching) was creating curricula specially designed to meet the needs of students who learn differently. So it is no surprise when in 2015 she was able to merge this talent of designing educational materials with her desire to make learning how to play the game of American Mah Jongg easier for herself and other newbies to the game.
The idea for her Flipbook Reference Guide came to Stacey when she found it hard to keep all the rules in her head during the heat of the game. She searched for an easy, user-friendly guide to use while playing and found nothing available. That was when she decided to create one herself. When she made a prototype and showed it to the members of her “Mah Jongg Fever” meetup.com group the response was enthusiastic. Hence, “Let’s Play Modern American Mah Jongg! A Flipbook Reference Guide” was born. A second edition soon followed with the addition of "Tips from Seasoned Players." Stacey's silent writing partner is a professional editor and just happens to be her husband, Dave.
Now that her Flipbook sales have reached and surpassed the 30,000 mark, Stacey is celebrating this achievement by launching a brand new product to go with the Flipbook. She has designed the artwork for 2 different sets of tile mixers/shufflers that she calls, “Tile Flippers.” Stacey has unique artwork for two different sets. View Set One HERE and Set Two HERE. Stacey is excited to share this fun, new way to “shuffle your tiles in style.” These stunning and whimsical Tile Flippers are now available at a special introductory price, however quantities are limited, so place your order today!
Stacey Teaches American Mah Jongg too!
Stacey has been teaching the game of American Mah Jongg since about 2016. She’s taught classes through Seattle Parks and Rec and at various retirement communities around King County. Most recently she taught Mah Jongg at the Sunset Club in Seattle as well as the Overlake Golf and Country Club in Medina.
Stacey also offers private, one-on-one lessons for a nominal fee. The best way for newbies to learn is to get a few friends together and take lessons from Stacey as a small group. You’ll all learn a new skill, laugh, and have the opportunity to become part of the friendly Seattle Mah Jongg community.
Stacey says learning how to play Mah Jongg has enriched her life on many levels. Mainly, though, the opportunity to meet so many lovely people is what she really loves about the game.
On Wednesday afternoons Stacey plays MJ with her friends at The Missing Piece in West Seattle where the games are open for anyone to join. If you are in the area on a Wednesday, stop by and say, “Hi,” and if you have the time, pull up a chair and join in the fun!
